Kalburgi, September 22 : Police constables and drivers were taking bribe from a person for transporting sand.
The incident of Lokayukta being caught red-handed by the police took place in Jewargi.
Police constable Shivarai of Jewargi police station and driver Avvann Lokayukta were arrested in this attack. Constable Shivarai and driver Avanna were doing business at the police residence in Jewargi. Acting on the information received from Akhil Shahapura, the Lokayukta officials conducted a raid and detained the constable and the driver along with the money.
In connection with the sand disposal business, the complainant named Akhil was involved in taking bribe. Hence, Akhil was instructed by Shivarai and Avwana to come near the police residence behind Jewargi police station, where the money would be delivered as per the agreement. Akhil had sent certain information to the Lokayukta officials about this. Based on this information, Lokayukta DySP Siddalingappa Gowda Patil along with police inspectors Dhruvathare, Akkamahadevi, Nanagowda and employees Pradeep and Siddalinga conducted a raid and arrested both the accused.
Cinematic Arrest : Shivarai, constable of Jewargi police station, was trying to run away with money to escape from the Lokayukta officers, but the Lokayukta police chased him and arrested him in a cinematic manner.
After that, both the accused were interrogated at the tourist temple in Jewargi limits and legal action was taken.
