Bayatarayanpura MLA Krishna Byre Gowda exposes a decade-old land scam in Bangalore TT News

TT News Updates,

BENGALURU: Former Congress minister Krishna Byre Gowda has exposed a huge land scam involving 23 acres of valuable land in Bengaluru, where the government has not taken any action for five months. Bayarayanapura MLA Byara Gowda said that the Bengaluru city district collector has submitted a land scam report in April 2022. Byre Gowda while explaining the land scam in the Assembly said, ‘Real life is more fiction than film.’

Where did this land scam take place?

K. This huge land scam revolved around Gopinath’s family and their land in Lagare. “In 1976, the “Land Sealing Act” was enacted in the city of Bangalore. After sealing the land, the rest of the land was treated as surplus land acquired by the government. 16.10 acres of additional land including 4.10 acres of bad land belonging to Gopinath’s family was acquired by the government. The same land in 1981 was acquired. The slum board was given to build houses,” Byregowda said.

“Against this, the family filed an appeal before the tribunal. It ruled in favor of the government. They then approached the High Court, which also ruled in favor of the government,” he pointed out.

What did Baire Gowda say about the scam?
The city’s Land Ceiling Act was repealed in 1999, after which Gopinath’s family sought help from the government. “However, for all legal purposes, acquisition by the government is final and land once acquired cannot be returned. Yet in 2009, 4.20 acres of vacant land was returned.

Byre Gowda explained, “The government order states that the land owner should not demand any other compensation. In total, Gopinath’s family has acquired 5.10 acres of land, including the adjoining bad land they acquired. Plots are now ready for building houses on that land. Byre Gowda said.

Gopinath Plot
After all this, the family filed an application and got only 4.20 acres out of the 16.10 acres they had lost. In 2010, he petitioned the court for alternative land. Accordingly, the government has given only 11.30 acres of land in my constituency. This layout has been named Gopinath Plot,” says Byre Gowda.

Gowda read out the High Court order stating that Gopinath had already been awarded compensation. “The High Court which ordered the inquiry had ordered that no alternative land should be given. “However, the Tehsildar of Yalhanka has issued an order that 11.30 acres of land should be given to them,” he said.

Answer to this question Revenue Minister R. Ashoka assured the assembly that “suitable action will be taken to save government land”.
